Custom Domain Names

#1

With Ontray, you’re free to use your own domain or subdomain name to host your online menu. Doing so just requires an update to your DNS setting which can be adjusted in your domain registrar’s account page. Common registrars are GoDaddy.com, NameCheap.com, and Name.com.

To get started let the Ontray team know which domain or subdomain you’d like to use for your menu. Once our team has been notified, find the section below that applies to you and update your DNS settings accordingly.

Wildcard Domains (*.example.com)

If you’re a network provider and would like to serve all of your network restaurants as sub-domains of your root domain, you’ll need to create a wildcard record like below. This will allow any new restaurant / sub-domain that gets added to your network to already be configured correctly.

Record 1

Host: @ (none)
Record Type: A
Value: 104.196.35.30

Record 2

Host: *
Record Type: CNAME
Value: @

Setting up Security (SSL Protection)

All Ontray websites must have a valid SSL certificate to protect sensitive customer information. All ontrayapp.com websites have one applied by default but if you’re using your own domain we’ll need to get another.

If you already have a certificate for the domain you’d like to use please contact the Ontray team so we can begin using it. If you don’t already have one we can configure one on your behalf for $10 / year.

Email Settings

If you’re a network provider who is sending emails through Ontray but from your email address, update your spf DNS records to include mailgun.org as an approved sender. This helps ensure emails do not get flagged as spam.

  • Host: @
  • Record Type: txt
  • Value: v=spf1 include:_spf.google.com include:mailgun.org ~all
